Pediatric Cancer Nursing and Care
Pediatric oncology is a medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of children who have cancer, typically up to the age of 18. Nurses specializing in pediatric oncology nursing are dedicating their careers to working with children who are either suspected of cancer or cancer. The field of pediatric oncology, in addition to nurses and physicians, is based on social workers, child life specialists and family counselors. To order to provide the best possible care, pediatric oncology nurses serve as care coordinators and partner with other cancer team members. They strive primarily to help their patients achieve realistic goals of health care.
